Frequently Asked Questions

  • Ra’a Ranch is not a traditional resort or highly polished tourist experience. Our experiences are rooted in the real landscape and rhythms of Rapa Nui — horseback riding across volcanic terrain, hiking remote coastlines, fishing in the Pacific, open-fire cooking, camping, tide pools, changing weather, dirt roads, horses, ocean wind, and long days outdoors.

This is a more immersive and adventurous experience designed for guests who feel excited by nature, movement, exploration, and a slower way of living.

  • Yes — most of our experiences require a moderate level of physical activity and comfort outdoors.

    Guests should feel comfortable:

    • Walking on uneven volcanic terrain

    • Spending extended time outdoors

    • Riding horses

    • Hiking coastal trails

    • Being exposed to sun, wind, rain, mud, ocean spray, and changing island weather

You do not need to be an athlete, but a good attitude, flexibility, and sense of adventure are essential.

  • We strongly recommend bringing:

    • Good hiking or outdoor shoes

    • Comfortable active clothing

    • Layers for changing weather

    • A hat and sunglasses

    • A camera

    • Swimsuit

    • Reusable water bottle if preferred

This is not an experience where guests should arrive in impractical clothing or footwear. Proper preparation allows you to fully enjoy the ranch and island comfortably and safely.

  • We provide:

    • Water and refreshments

    • Meals and picnic setups

    • Clean reef-safe sunscreen

    • Rain jackets when needed

    • Ranch transportation

    • Basic outdoor necessities during experiences

For founding member stays and multi-day experiences, most logistics and planning are handled for you directly by our team.

  • Weather on Rapa Nui changes quickly and can include intense sun, wind, rain, humidity, and cooler evenings — sometimes all within the same day.

We encourage guests to embrace the unpredictability of island life and come prepared for a more natural and outdoors-oriented experience.

  • Yes, though some experiences are better suited for older children depending on terrain and activity level. We’re happy to help guide families toward the best options for their group.

  • Our future accommodations are inspired by elevated off-grid hospitality — blending indoor-outdoor living, thoughtful design, natural materials, and comfort deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.

Guests should expect beauty, simplicity, and immersion in nature rather than a traditional luxury hotel environment.
