RA’A RANCH

Our Philosophy

Raised between the United States and Rapa Nui, the founders of Ra’a Ranch bring together two distinct worlds: one deeply rooted in the traditions and daily life of the island, the other shaped by years working within luxury hospitality, food, editorial, and wellness spaces in the United States.

Born and raised on Rapa Nui, Thomas comes from generations connected to the land and sea. Ana’s background spans private hospitality, food media, and luxury wellness, with years spent working as a food editor at goop and private chef for Gwyneth Paltrow before returning full time to island life.

Set on privately held land along the remote northern coast of Rapa Nui, Ra’a Ranch is a working ranch where horses, fishing, farming, outdoor cooking, and life tied to the elements remain part of the everyday rhythm. The experience of the ranch is shaped by this intersection: refined yet grounded, remote yet deeply hospitable.

Ra’a Ranch was created from the belief that meaningful luxury today is found in intimacy, connection, and access to experiences that feel both deeply personal and impossible to replicate elsewhere. Experiences are intentionally small and immersive — designed around the landscape, the pace of the island, and the knowledge of the people who call it home.

Rather than traditional tourism, Ra’a Ranch offers a slower and more elevated way to experience Rapa Nui — one centered around nature, wellness, hospitality, and a profound sense of place.

Ra’a Ranch was created from the belief that true luxury is not excess, but connection — to land, to food, to nature, to culture, and to a slower rhythm of life that feels increasingly rare in the modern world.

Set on the remote northern coast of Rapa Nui, the ranch is rooted in the landscape and cultural rhythms of the island itself. The approach to hospitality here is intentionally small, private, and personal. Not a traditional resort or high-volume destination, but something quieter and more grounded — a place designed for guests who want to experience the island in a way that feels immersive, intentional, and deeply connected to place.

Meals cooked over fire. Horses crossing volcanic terrain. Fishing in the Pacific. Long tables beneath the stars. Time spent outdoors, disconnected from urgency and reconnected to the natural world.

The vision for Ra’a Ranch extends beyond hospitality alone. Through regenerative agriculture, renewable energy integration, thoughtful architecture, and wellness-centered experiences, the goal is to create something that exists in harmony with the island rather than apart from it.

There is also a deep belief that monetary value is not the only currency worth exchanging. Much of Polynesian culture was built through barter — through the exchange of skills, knowledge, craftsmanship, labor, and care. Embedded within that philosophy is the understanding that value can exist in many forms, and that meaningful exchange often creates deeper connection than transaction alone.

If someone carries something meaningful to offer — whether a craft, education, trade, creative skill, physical work, or another form of contribution — there is always openness to conversation. These experiences require real investment, time, and resources, but it is also believed that what people bring to the table may hold value just the same.

The intention is not to build quickly or endlessly expand, but to build carefully — preserving privacy, beauty, slowness, and a sense of genuine connection for every person who comes to the ranch.
